How to Attain Inner Peace
David Stern
We live in a world of distress, where it seems almost impossible to achieve inner peace. Everything about modern society seems like an obstacle when we try to trot on the road of inner-mind. When you carry peace in your mind, you attain the ability to remain calm and joyful at all times, regardless of outside stressors or what life offers you on a platter. Inner peace can mean several things.
1) Mental and spiritual
2) Freeing mind of negative thoughts
3) The mind is quiet and serene
4) Ability to connect with the supreme self, which gives eternal peace
Here are 3 ways in which you can attain inner peace
1) Focus on things you can control
This is one of the significant obstacles to inner peace. We often worry too much about things that are beyond our control. But why worry about the things you cannot control? The only thing that achieves is a sore mood and makes you less capable. When you find yourself in this situation, sit down and ask, “Is this something I can control?” if the answer is no, then don’t worry! It is as simple as that.
However, you have to know which things are within your control. Once you have figured that out, the rest can be solved by asking a simple question.
2) Set limits
Don’t overfill your life with projects and other life stressors. Set some limits and remember to give yourself a break. Stop doing the least important things, the things that don’t matter. This way, you will save up so much energy.
Start with small things. Like, set a limit to how many times you will check inboxes or Twitter, or Instagram, per day. And learn to say no when you don’t have the time.
3) Breathe
Not just metaphorically, but also physically. Every day, take out some time to just focus on your breathing. This keeps you grounded. When you do this, your mind’s attention will be drawn towards the life-enhancing process of drawing air in and exhaling it out.
Take 5 long deep breaths. As you do that, focus on your lungs and diaphragm movements. This is an instant way to feel calm.
Inner peace is a crucial element in living a happy life. If you don’t have inner peace, the chances of a breakdown are higher. Keep yourself grounded and follow these tips to attain inner peace. It is all a part of personal development.
